NHX Feasibility Study
The City of Hamilton, in partnership with Butler County Transportation Improvement District, is currently completing a Feasibility Study to identify a preferred alternative for the NHX project. This work began in 2020 and is expected to conclude in the second half of 2022.
The Feasibility Study identifies current and future travel and transportation conditions in the study area, defines transportation needs, and identifies specific areas of concern. The study also explores which possible project alternatives (series of improvements) should be considered. In addition, we will look at the expected project costs, benefits, and possible impacts of each alternative on the natural environment and on the communities they pass through. Public input is an integral part of this process and will be used to help shape alternatives to be considered.
The Feasibility Study will conclude with the identification of a preferred project alternative. This alternative will define specific project components and identify where they will be located. From there, our focus will turn toward environmental engineering tasks such as completing detailed engineering, environmental analyses, and other technical studies. We will also begin identifying right-of-way needs and initiating the property acquisition process.
Construction timing will depend on the availability of funding.
All NHX work is being completed in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and will follow ODOT’s Project Development Process. It will also adhere to project development requirements as specified by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
