Civil Service Commission.
The Hamilton City Charter places most of the positions in the city government within the classified civil service. Basic merit principles are set forth in the Charter and are supplemented by rules and regulations developed by the Civil Service Commission. These provisions govern the conduct of examinations, appointments, transfers, reinstatement, disciplinary actions, appeals and other related matters.
Board Members
To supervise the affairs of the civil service, the Charter establishes a Commission of three Hamilton residents. Members of this Commission are appointed, two by City Council members and one by the Board of Education of the Hamilton City School District. Members serve without compensation.
