Department Mission

To ensure the efficient operation of the City Clerk’s Office while supporting the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of City Council and maintaining a commitment to delivering high quality services to the City’s residents.


Department Description

A one person department that works to prepare minutes and meeting packets for all meetings of City Council and committees of Council, develops the annual budget for the City Clerk and City Council, conducts the annual update of the City’s Codified Ordinances, works with the City Charter Review Board, is responsible for posting meeting notices, receives various trainings for Ohio Sunshine Laws, oversees subcommittees of City Council, oversees the City’s open Public Record Requests from all departments, manages the liquor permit application process, and manages other projects as assigned by Hamilton City Council. The City Clerk also provides support to all members of City Council along with being a resource to citizens and organizations regarding City Council related items including the City’s Codified Ordinances.

Notice of Passage of a Resolution of Necessity Resolution No. 2025-12-47 Adopted December 11, 2025

Notice is hereby given that the City of Hamilton, Ohio (the “City”) passed Resolution No. 2025-

12-47 on December 11, 2025, a Resolution Renewing and Expanding the Hamilton Central

Business Special Improvement District, Approving the Plan of Services, and Declaring the

Necessity to Levy Special Assessments to Implement the Plan of Services for the Hamilton

Central Business Special Improvement District upon the Lots and Lands Benefited by said Plan

of Services (the “Resolution of Necessity”).

A purpose of the Resolution of Necessity is to levy an assessment for the sidewalk

sweeping/vacuuming; litter and debris removal; seasonal plantings, street tree and landscaping;

snow removal; promotion of image of downtown area; planning, packaging and advertising for

special events; and preparation of promotional brochures for, and advertising of, downtown area

of the City.

Ordinance Review Commission Application.

Hamilton City Council is now accepting applications for the Ordinance Review Commission. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Hamilton, Ohio – Hamilton City Council is now accepting applications for the Ordinance Review Commission. Council will be appointing a new board members to serve as Resident Representative who will work alongside eight additional board members who are part of the City Administration. All ten members of the board must live within the City of Hamilton in order to be considered for appointment.

The Ordinance Review Commission is responsible for reviewing and discussing proposed ordinances that may have a significant impact on quality of life in the City of Hamilton and to provide additional opportunities for Council and public input in the development stage. Board members must be available to meet at 8am on the third Wednesday of every month. Additionally, each of the board appointments must attach proof of residency to their completed application. This can be done through several different methods including but not limited to providing a copy of: address on a current State or Federal ID, current utility bill, or a current signed apartment lease. 

 Appointment to the Ordinance Review Commission is for a one-year term. However, since these resident positions have just been created, the two members appointed in this round will only serve until the 31st of December. After each appointee’s initial stated term, he/she will be eligible for reappointment to a full one-year term.
