Under this program, registered vehicles may be driven on city streets with speed limits of 25 mph or less. Drivers may also cross higher-speed roadways when necessary to reach another eligible street. However, these vehicles are not permitted on U.S. Routes or State Routes, and several bridges and roadways remain restricted. Operation is also limited to daylight hours, and vehicles may not be driven on sidewalks, trails, or greenways.

What Happens Next?

After submitting the form below, the Hamilton Police Department will review your application and contact you to schedule a convenient time to inspect your vehicle at your location. During this inspection, an officer will verify that the vehicle meets the safety requirements established by the City’s pilot program.

The inspection will confirm that the vehicle is equipped with the required safety features, including headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, a windshield, horn, rearview mirror, speedometer, and seat belts for all occupants. Officers will also verify the vehicle identification number (VIN or serial number) and ensure that proof of insurance and operator identification have been provided.

Once the vehicle successfully passes inspection and the registration fee is paid, the City will issue a Road Ready Hamilton registration decal. This decal must be displayed on the vehicle and indicates that it is approved to operate on eligible Hamilton streets in accordance with the program rules.
